Howdy, this is Mike Schroder (DH-Shredder) from DreamHost. Here at DreamHost, we love WordPress! We use it for our primary website, blog, and status blog. Beyond that, though, we host over 600,000 domains that use WordPress, and auto-upgrade more than 300,000 installs each cycle.

By far, though, the most fun part of my job is to get to contribute to core, and see the wider community of millions of WordPress users enjoy it. You can see our activity on WordPress Trac. For information on how you too can contribute to the WordPress project, check out this codex article, or find me at WordCamp. I’m happy to help!

It’s standard practice to contribute upstream to other open source projects that DreamHost uses internally as well, like wp-cli and OpenStack. You can see many of these contributions on GitHub.

We’re always looking for ways to help customers get started with WordPress more easily, and keep their sites running faster. Come stop by our table and say “Hi!” while we’re at WordCamp San Francisco. There will be plenty of us to talk to whether it’s for questions or suggestions as to how we can make our WordPress hosting even better!
